For the Jonah Kragt Book Club or JKBC it was a great chance to use a mockup in PhotoShop. Below is the prompt I got from sharpen, simple enough, make a stationary mockup kit for a book club. I have had plenty of experience with mockups during my time in school, so this would be a great refresher when it came to working with those tools.
Since the stationary mockup was the focal point of this design challenge I quickly drafted up some sketches for a simple logo and signature. I liked the idea of monospaced type for a simple 4 letter blocky logo as can be seen in the sketches below.
For the final mockup I found a good mockup kit that had a good amount of variance to it, it included business cards, a notebook, a picture of the leader of the book club, an envelope and a larger shipping envelope for the materials. It was nice to be able to see how my chosen style and typeface worked across the different pieces of the mockup kit. Some instances where the logo didn’t work, the signature filled in nicely. To keep a minimalist design I went with the monospace typeface Odisseia. The color gray was chosen to show the neutrality one must approach the idea of a book club with.
