Time to take another look at ye ole sharpen for another prompt. This time, as shown below I pulled “Design a tattoo for Suzuki and share it on Instagram”. Cool beans. I haven’t designed a tattoo for someone since college so this will be an interesting piece to get into. I don’t know a ton about Suzuki other than their motorcycles as their cars are no longer sold in the U S of A. I believe they ended US car sales in 2012.
For the process, I’ve been wanting to get away from the Adobe products as I learn to use the Affinity suite of products. So a project like this was a great opportunity for me to play with the pen tool and other vector tools that this program has at its disposal. One thing I really liked about using Affinity Designer was the use of its perspective tools as you can see I played with one the sketches below.
Refining the sketches with the tools mentioned above I was able to come up with a final design that really stuck with me. The flames represent motorcycle culture without being too big unwieldy, a nod to Suzuki’s automobiles that favor form and size over big loud presentation.
